Path to Success

Imagine going to selling clothes on ebay to be able to pay for rent, to having a multi million dollar company within just a few years. This is what the founder of the clothing company Nasty Gal, Sophia Amoruso, experienced. Sophia wrote a book titled #GIRLBOSS . In the article, 3 Rules Of Success That Made Nasty Gal A $100 Million Business there are excerpts from her book that explain her way to success. The strategies Sophia demonstrated were free marketing, quality of the product, and customer satisfaction.

Free marketing was a big help to Sophia’s success. In her book she states, “One key to running a successful business is to know how to get free marketing.”. Sophia would make sure that all of her products were what her buyers wanted, which created free marketing. Girls will order Nasty Gal’s clothes online and when the clothes deliver, they look exactly how they did online including good quality. The word of this company starts to spread and next thing you know thousands of girls are buying products from this firm all because of the free advertisement that Sophia produced. “Social media is built on sharing, and Nasty Gal was giving girls something amazing to share each and every day.I know from personal experience that this method works. I am one of the many girls that have heard good things about Nasty Gal from a friend and later bought clothing from the website.

If Nasty Gal’s clothing didn’t have the good quality that they have, it would most definitely not be as successful as it is. If a clothing firm does not have good quality clothing it is most likely to fail. When I order clothes online and they come in as bad quality I make sure not to order from that website ever again. Sophia says, “When girls bought something from Nasty Gal, what they got in the mail was just as amazing as what they'd seen online.” She made sure that the quality of her products was good so people would come back to buy more.

Making sure the customers are satisfied in the clothing industry, or almost any industry, is very important if you want a successful outcome. Sophia demonstrated this and got the response she was yearning for. “Customer service was my number one priority. A lot of people run their businesses like their customers are dummies. This is a mistake. If you're just out to take their money, they know it. But if you genuinely care about what you're doing, they will respond.” As a customer, it is always nice to be heard and to be satisfied with my purchase, it makes me want to come back and shop their again.
