Institutions can help create more productive physical work enviornments

I believe institutions should allow workers to create their own work environment so that productivity can be increased. Productivity is largely dependent on physical environments. If the environment is too comfortable you may feel sleepy and consequently complete tasks at a slower rate. If the environment is not comfortable you will likely tense up and not have a calm mind. The ideal physical work environment is comfortable but not too comfortable.

Dr. Craig Night has researched the impact of the work environment for years and he concludes that " the ideal work environment should be created by those who work there". He points out the idea that if people feel at home they will complete tasks at a faster rate. In fact, he conducted a study where he allowed people to create their own work environment and "productivity increased by 30%".

In conclusion, everyone needs to be in their comfort zone to be efficient in the workplace.

Future Research Question: Is multitasking productive? What is deep work? How does someone develop deep work habits? (I may look at this podcast: https://www.npr.org/2017/07/25/539092670/you-2-0-the-value-of-deep-work-in-an-age-of-distraction)
