We should stay away from multitasking so that we perform better at completing tasks. A common misconception about productivity is the idea that high quality multitasking will create the most efficient work. However high quality multitasking does not exist because contrary to popular belief multitasking itself actually does not exist. When someone claims to be multitasking they claim that they are doing two or more cognitively demanding tasks at once. However According to Nancy K. Nappier he reality is that the brain is switching from task to task very rapidly giving the illusion of multitasking .This idea of multitasking is detrimental to productivity. For example According to a study conducted by Stanford University individuals who multitask were less likely to to recall information and pay attention. From this we can conclude that multitasking has a large negative impact on individuals.
In conclusion multitasking diminishes productivity so we should not add it into our routines.
